Where is Mecca?

The birthplace of Muhammad is 45 miles inland from the Red Sea in southwestern Saudi Arabia. All of the inhabitants are Muslim as non-Muslims are prohibited from entering the city. Over 2 million Muslims annually make the pilgrimage to Mecca.
