Sally Hemings, the black slave who was Thomas Jefferson's mistress for
over twenty-five years, was also a blood-relative of Jefferson's wife.

She was Martha Jefferson's half-sister: Martha's father, John Wayles,
took Betty Hemings (Sally's mother) as a mistress after the death of his
third wife. Betty had six kiddoes with Mr. Wayles, of whom Sally was
one.
