The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous structures on earth.

It's builder, Gustave Eiffel, also built a dam in Russia, a church in
the Phillippines, locks for the first attempt at the Panama Canal.
Eiffel also designed the right arm of the Statue of Liberty and the full
steel structure holding it all together.

Eiffel went to work on his famous tower in January of 1887. Today, it
takes over 60 people, spending four months and 6,000 gallons of paint,
to paint the tower. For years after it was constructed, Eiffel
maintained a private apartment at the very top.
